Just outside the crowds of Venice, in the quiet green neighbourhood of Carpenedo, you'll find two self-contained apartments, a ten-minute walk apart, run by hosts who live close by. A few steps from the tram, about an hour from St Mark's Square, and a world away from the tourist rush — both with free private parking at the door.
We're Jitka and Federico. Federico grew up a stone's throw from Piazza San Marco; Jitka came from Prague for the love of the city and never left. We're always happy to point you to the trattorias, bàcari and quiet corners the locals keep to themselves.
The apartments
Sun & Moon
A calm, light-filled apartment for up to four. A double bedroom, a living room with kitchen and sofa bed, a small study and a bathroom — watched over by the hand-painted Venetian sun-and-moon mask that gave the place its name. Independent entrance, hosts next door.
Moon & Sun
A cosy, elegant apartment furnished in true Venetian style: one spacious room with a French-style double bed and a sofa that unfolds for extra guests, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. Like its sister apartment, it sits in the quiet residential streets of Carpenedo, with a supermarket, fresh-fish shop, pizzeria, café and pharmacy all within a short walk. Trams and buses stop 400 metres away and reach historic Venice in about thirty minutes.
The neighbourhood
Carpenedo is residential Mestre at its best: leafy, calm and safe, ideal if you're travelling with children. Two genuine local restaurants — Do Fradei and Da Luca — are minutes away for a spritz or a glass of prosecco with cicchetti, and the pastry shops Pettenò and Ceccon are worth the short walk.
The tram reaches Venice in about half an hour, and St Mark's Square in around an hour — so you get the best of the city and a real night's sleep well away from it.
Good to know: the Venice day-tripper access fee doesn't apply to overnight guests. City tourist tax is collected separately.
